The Problem

Women Employed needed a digital partner to modernize and reposition their online presence and overcome a series of challenges:

  • Their website was attracting the wrong audience through misguided SEO efforts.

  • The website’s look and feel was outdated and stale.

  • Visitors had a difficult time understanding the organization’s mission and how they could get involved.

  • Women Employed’s staff struggled to maintain and update the website’s branding and content because of its rigid framework

The Solution

8th Light’s world-class design team thoughtfully collaborated with Women Employed and their website users to discover, define, and craft a more human-centered design. Throughout our engagement, we worked to:

  • Understand their target audience’s motivations and confusions by conducting user interviews

  • Clarify and re-focus the organization’s messaging with a comprehensive content audit

  • Help users immediately understand the organization’s mission and inspire them to get involved through a new user experience, including several iterations of user testing

  • Breathe new life into their website by implementing a rebrand

  • Empower Women Employed staff to maintain and update their content with a brand new and intuitive Content Management System that includes a design toolkit and illustration library

The Result

  • Women Employed’s website is a bright and engaging gateway into the advocacy organization’s core mission.

  • We refined 300 pages of legacy content into a direct and impactful 40-page website.
