Vice President of Business Development

About this position

You are an experienced sales and marketing professional who grows talent as well as you grow business. You’ve successfully sold professional consulting services, managing a book of business plus meeting and exceeding sales targets, and have mentored others to do the same. You’re a coach and a mentor and derive as much satisfaction from seeing your team thrive as from closing the deal yourself. Your primary role will be leading our team, but you will also contribute to the team’s revenue targets by bringing in business.

In this role you will lead our business development team. The team consists of:

  • Business development directors
  • Marketing manager
  • Writer
  • Business development coordinator

As the leader of the department you will:

  • Work with CEO and CFO to set annual company revenue goals and provide regular progress reporting
  • Set team and individual targets and measure progress against targets
  • Work with team members to set personal career development goals
  • Provide ongoing feedback and bi-annual performance reviews to team
  • Mentor team in business development techniques
  • Create incentive/commission plans
  • Oversee creation of annual marketing plan
  • Design and implement business development processes
  • Lead new business pitches
  • Hire and train new team members as needed
  • Distribute incoming leads across the team, managing capacity
  • Increase relationship building and business opportunity seeking skills across the organization
  • Have individual contribution targets of your own

  • Has successfully led sales teams for at least 10 years
