Martin Gaston

Serving as Account Director, Martin Gaston leads technology delivery across distributed systems, platform modernization, and AI enablement. Since joining 8th Light in 2019, Martin has become accountable for nine engagements and 28 consultants at a global live-events and ticketing company, where AI pilots now run inside three existing engagements rather than off to the side. 

Martin drove the design of an engineering intelligence platform that gives a live, queryable view across tens of thousands of code repositories, refreshed every 24 hours. Agents classify and summarize change, a semantic layer makes the code searchable, and a "code mode" agent writes ad hoc SQL for reporting. It now serves 5,000 monthly active users. Martin also helped set up an experimentation framework that gives teams a safe way to prototype new AI capabilities, so the riskiest assumptions get tested before anyone commits to a long build. 

Earlier, Martin led the design of a real-time abuse detection system that handles more than 50,000 requests per second and makes blocking decisions at the edge. Martin also architected a move from on-premises, single-VM infrastructure to cloud-native Kubernetes, and worked on an advanced trading platform for a large cryptocurrency exchange.
