I’m very happy to announce that Jenny Farver has joined 8th Light as co-CEO. We are at an exciting point in our company’s history, and Jenny brings experience and perspective that will be invaluable as we grow into our next phase.
In previous roles as a VP of Engineering and CTO, Jenny has demonstrated growth leadership spanning product development, recruiting, culture, talent development, and business strategy. “I think of myself as an engineer, but now I enjoy using systems thinking to build teams and companies instead of software.” Jenny’s experience includes roles at live-streaming company Lightstream, influencer marketing company Popular Pays, and data science consultancy Civis Analytics.
As a member of 8th Light’s Board of Directors for the last three years, Jenny has watched the company thrive via its evergreen strategy. “What I see at 8th Light is a growth company with incredible potential,” Farver said. “We know who we are. We stand for something. We are proud of our work. We’ve taken risks. And our customers stay with us. These are all very good ingredients for a company that can keep growing, and I believe we will.”
On what’s ahead for 8th Light, Farver notes: “We’ll have to keep changing as we grow, and we have a lot of work to do. It may sound boring, but staying true to our values and being disciplined about our priorities will be critical.”
Farver was included on Crain’s Chicago’s “Tech 50” list in 2019 and 2020, and has served as an Adjunct Professor at Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management. Her background in teaching and education is one of the reasons why 8th Light’s apprenticeship program resonates with her. “I’m proud of how we build our world-class team by creating an open path to technical careers. I see myself as a career changer, and I’ve definitely taken some detours along the way. Like a lot of 8th Lights, my unconventional path has given me passion for my work.“
We’re thrilled to have Jenny join our team. If you’d like to get in touch and learn more about how 8th Light can impact your business culture and software quality, please reach out.
