This week is the 8th annual National Apprenticeship Week in the United States, and we’re thrilled to announce that applications are now open for our next two apprenticeship cohorts.
These cohorts will begin in February and April, and we encourage you to apply if either of those timelines work for you. We also plan to begin a cohort in August, and will open applications for that group in mid-2023.
Our apprenticeship program is not affiliated with the US government, but we are aligned on the values that make apprenticeship such a valuable education model. Throughout the week, the Department of Labor highlights themes of apprenticeship in new and emerging industries, and how apprenticeships can be vital gateways to success for youth, underserved populations, women, and veterans.
“The biggest draw to 8th Light was their commitment to their employees. An apprenticeship program, emphasis on inclusivity, and learning and development time set 8th Light apart for me.” Pedro Lopez, Software Crafter

We believe that hands-on practical learning guided by a team of mentors is the best way to grow skills and prepare for a successful software consulting career. And we’ve seen firsthand how apprenticeships create opportunities for applicants with nontraditional backgrounds, enabling them to thrive as technology professionals in an industry that historically created steep barriers to entry.
We’re proud partners with Code Nation, which provides educational programming and development opportunities for high school students across the US. We also have official partnerships with the United Kingdom chapter of Black Girls Code, which trains girls in tech, and Code Platoon, which helps veterans transition into new careers in software development.
