The 8th Light Beacon Award is an honor that recognizes distinguished individuals or teams who bring 8th Light’s values to the frontlines, inspiring and enabling the way for others to follow in their footsteps.

As we closed out 2025, we recognized a team that carried 8th Light’s values beyond our screens and onto a global stage. Team Nimrods made up of Kelsey Roy (Senior Crafter), Jonathan Manahan (Crafter), and Eric Olson (Principal Crafter), represented 8th Light through their participation in an O’Reilly Architectural Kata— a hands-on, team-based workshop where engineers from some of the world’s largest organizations tackle realistic system design challenges under time pressure and present their solutions.

Team Nimrods advanced though multiple rounds of competition and ultimately placed second globally, finishing among the final eight teams worldwide.

Their work stood out for its strong technical execution, thoughtful problem selection, and clear, compelling presentation. From concept to code to storytelling

Their final presentation highlights not only the quality of their solution, but the clarity, confidence, and pride with which they represented 8th Light and our values.

As our CEO Jenny Farver shared during the Q4 Beacon announcement, this team was:

“...an absolute flag-bearer for 8th Light — showing why organizations should hire consultants, and in particular, why they should hire 8th Light consultants.”

Congratulations Kelsey, Jonathan and Eric, our Beacons!
